A loan helped a member to buy pigs and food.

Las Leydis Group's story

Meet the community bank Las Leydis, located in Chinandega, Nicaragua and comprised of 9 borrowers, who make a living sewing, butchering pork, selling new and used clothing, selling curds, creams, selling sandals and shoes.

Reyna Baltazara (featured borrower who is sitting down and wearing a red t-shirt, colored leggings and a black bag), 53 years old, is a kind, cheerful and affectionate married woman, mother of three children of legal age.

She has been working in the pork butchering business for 25 years. Her dream is to thrive and invest the profit; the loan will be used to buy pigs and food.

What she likes is that she works from her house, and by 7 a.m. she no longer has any pork left. Granting loans is a big help because it allows women to improve themselves.

Transform lives, help them grow!
