The Kiva community is happy to welcome some amazing new partners this month who all share a common mission with Kiva: to empower people with opportunities to create better lives for themselves. Whether it’s giving farmers in Peru access to resources and markets, training farmers in Mozambique to increase productivity, or connecting entrepreneurs with the tools they need to tackle some of the world’s biggest problems, our partners are having a significant impact on the lives of people all over the world. Check them out!
Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Norandino Ltda (COOPAC Norandino) is a rural savings and credit cooperative that supports Fair Trade, certified organic farmers in the highlands of Peru who have limited financial resources and market access. COOPAC Norandino works with local agricultural cooperatives to give farmers access to price premiums, agricultural trainings, and export to international markets. They also created a new loan product for female cooperative members or spouses to develop rural microenterprises, which will help them smooth and diversity their household income. Loans funded on Kiva will fund this new loan product, and also allow COOPAC Norandino to continue growing its organic coffee and cacao portfolio.

iDE Mozambique
“Solving poverty with profit.” This slogan is at the heart of everything that iDE does. iDE is an international nonprofit operating in 11 countries around the world with the goal of creating income and livelihood opportunities for the rural poor. iDE Mozambique specifically works in one of the poorest countries in Africa. Their focus is on smallholder farmers living in rural areas, who often can’t be reached by agricultural suppliers. They help these farmers by training them to increase their agricultural productivity as well as improving their access to farming resources and technology, enabling them to increase their income and improve their quality of life.

Unreasonable Institute
The Unreasonable Institute is a social enterprise accelerator on a mission to help entrepreneurs all over the world. Oftentimes, social entrepreneurs dedicated to tackling problems such as poverty, lack of education, and social injustices don’t have the necessary network, financing, and capabilities to scale. This is where the Unreasonable Institute helps out. They offer various programs to entrepreneurs, providing localized trainings and access to a large mentor network. Loans funded on Kiva support the Unreasonable Institute’s work helping these entrepreneurs to accelerate their causes and scale, broadening their impact and reaching more people in need.
