Trabajadoras Por Fe Group

Trabajadoras Por Fe Group's story

Estefany, age 28, is the mother of two children (2 and 6 years old). The older child attends kindergarten. Estefany has an eighth grade education and is married to a laborer.

To obtain income, Estefany works making corn tostadas. She has had this business for four years. She sells in a stand in the terminal market in Guatemala. At this time, she has several orders and so she requests her third Kiva loan to buy corn, firewood, and gas. With these supplies, she will be able to make more tostadas and meet demand on time.

Estefany is a member of the communal bank “Trabajadoras Por Fé” of Puente de Amistad [Friendship Bridge] with six other members. The women live in a rural part of the department / state of Huehuetenango. They look forward to their monthly meeting where they receive support, make loan payments, and participate in educational training sessions. This is part of the program of loans, education, and health services called “Microcrédito Plus”. The topics of these sessions are relevant for the women's lives and are drawn from four areas: business, health, family, and women's issues. Business training helps them effectively manage their ventures. They works making tostadas, and selling gas, tortillas, and snacks.

Estefany sends her gratitude to Kiva lenders in all parts of the world. Thanks to every one of you for your kindness and generosity!
