Lauren's story

I started Hem Support Wear after being diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse shortly after having my first child. I had never even heard of prolapse before my diagnosis, and I quickly learned how isolating and overwhelming it can feel when your body changes in ways you weren’t prepared for. I tried every support option I could find, but nothing felt comfortable, effective, or designed with real-life women in mind. That experience lit a fire in me, and I became determined to create something better — not just for myself, but for the millions of women who quietly live with pelvic floor symptoms every day.

Over the past two years, nearly 1,000 women have tried our pelvic floor support garment. Their feedback has been invaluable, and we’ve learned exactly what works, what needs refinement, and what women truly want from a supportive product. We’re now using what we’ve learned to improve the design and move from an MVP to a more scalable, reliable version of the garment — one that can serve even more women with better comfort, fit, and day-to-day support.

My background in business and sustainability helped me bring the idea to life, but what motivates me most is the community of women who reach out to say they finally feel understood and less alone. Hem Support Wear is a woman-owned, Texas-based business partnering with U.S. woman-owned manufacturers, and I’m committed to growing responsibly and impactfully. This loan will help me continue improving our garment design and expand outreach to women navigating pelvic floor changes.
